Saunas have been used in Finland for thousands of years and are still very popular across the world.
Not only does a sauna helps to unwind and relax, it has many other health benefits!
A sauna is typically a room heated to between
60° to 100° Celsius.
Traditional Finnish saunas usually use dry heat, with a relative humidity that is often between 10 and 30 percent.
When a person sits in a sauna, their heart rate increases and blood vessels widen. This increases the circulation; in a similar way as moderate exercise does.
The sauna heat relaxes the body's muscles, improves the circulation and stimulates the release of endorphins.
Sauna Do´s & Don´ts!
If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure or are pregnant do not use the sauna
Sit on a towel at all times, you don´t have to be naked, it is perfectly fine to be in a sauna in swimwear
Take a bottle of water with you so you can remain hydrated at all times
Don't go in after a big meal
Have a cool shower before entering the sauna to help maintain your core temperature during your session
Sit in the sauna for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time. Have a cool shower to lower your temperature and rest for minimum 10 minutes. You can do this safely up to 3 times
Do not use mobile phones in the sauna. They can explode and cause injury to yourself and others
